Politikstudio welcomes tips from readers and sources who have information that can strengthen our reporting. If you know about a development in Swedish politics, the economy, culture, or society that deserves public scrutiny, we want to hear from you – responsibly, securely and with full respect for your confidentiality.

Who is responsible for handling tips at Politikstudio?

Chefredaktör Oliver Keller and Birgit Schmitt, Ansvarig för faktagranskning, lead the team that assesses every reader tip. Politikstudio (politikstudio.de) is owned and operated by Politikstudi Media Ltd, a private company registered in Gibraltar (company number C 92009, Malta Business Registry). Our editorial independence is guaranteed by our ownership structure, which is detailed in our ownership and funding disclosure. All tips are reviewed within a framework that prioritises accuracy, fairness and public interest.

What makes a good tip?

A strong tip relates to a concrete policy development, a public‑interest story or an emerging issue connected to the Riksdag, the government, municipal politics, Wirtschaft, the Swedish economy, culture or society. We are especially interested in stories that have not been widely reported and that affect the lives of people in Sweden or the international community that follows Swedish affairs. For example, a tip might reveal a new legislative proposal, a pattern of misconduct, a significant economic trend or a cultural shift with political consequences. We do not accept tips that are purely promotional, defamatory or based on unverifiable rumours. The most valuable tips include specific facts, documents or named sources that we can follow up.

How do we verify tips?

Birgit Schmitt’s fact‑checking desk applies the same rigorous standards to reader tips as to any other editorial content. We cross‑reference information with public records, official documents, primary sources and, where appropriate, expert interviews. Our verification process follows the principles set out in our fact‑checking policy and our sources and standards guide. We never publish a story based solely on an anonymous tip; we require at least two independent sources or corroborating evidence before proceeding. If a tip contains information that cannot be verified, we will not use it.

What should you include when you send a tip?

Please provide as much concrete detail as possible: names, dates, locations, document references, links to publicly available material and a clear explanation of why you believe the matter is in the public interest. If you are willing to be contacted for follow‑up, include a telephone number or a secure email address. You do not need to provide your identity if you wish to remain anonymous, but contact details allow us to ask clarifying questions and to verify the credibility of the information. Avoid sending large attachments unless requested; a brief summary with links is often more effective. Do not include material that is defamatory, illegal or in breach of any confidentiality obligation you may have.

How can you reach us?

Send tips directly to tips@politikstudio.de. For less sensitive general news leads, you may use newsdesk@politikstudio.de. Press‑related inquiries can go to press@politikstudio.de. If you are concerned about security, you may also use the encrypted channels listed on our contact page. All emails are treated confidentially by default. We recommend that you do not include sensitive personal information in unencrypted email unless necessary.

How do we protect your confidentiality?

We treat the identity of every tipster as confidential unless you explicitly and voluntarily consent to be named. Politikstudio will not disclose your name, contact details or any identifying information to third parties except where required by law. Our data‑protection practices are governed by the policies outlined in our privacy policy. If you request anonymity, we will take reasonable steps to ensure that your identity is not revealed in our reporting, including the use of secure communication methods where appropriate.

What happens after you submit a tip?

Our editorial team acknowledges receipt of every tip within three working days, provided you have included a contact method. We then conduct an initial assessment to determine whether the tip meets our editorial criteria. If it does, Birgit Schmitt’s fact‑checking desk begins verification. You may be contacted for further clarification. If the tip does not lead to a story, we will inform you if you have provided contact details. We do not pay for tips, but we may acknowledge sources in accordance with our editorial policy. Tips that are not selected for publication are securely deleted after 90 days unless they are part of an ongoing investigation.

How can you submit a correction?

If you believe we have published an error that originated from a tip or from any other source, please email corrections@politikstudio.de. Include the article URL, a description of the error and the correct information along with supporting evidence. Our corrections team, led by Birgit Schmitt, reviews every correction request and follows the procedures set out in our corrections policy. We aim to respond within two working days and to publish corrections promptly on the relevant article.

Our commitments

  • We protect the confidentiality of all tipsters by default and only disclose identity with explicit consent or when legally required.
  • We verify every piece of information from a tip using at least two independent sources or corroborating evidence before publication.
  • We clearly label sponsored or commercial content and never allow commercial relationships to influence our editorial decisions on tips.
  • We correct errors promptly and transparently in accordance with our published corrections policy.
  • We maintain full editorial independence from our owners and from any external interests, as documented in our ownership and funding disclosure.
