At Politikstudio, AI-assisted tools may support research, drafting, editing, formatting, translation, metadata generation, headline options, summaries and transcription, but never replace human editorial judgement. This policy, overseen by Chefredaktör Oliver Keller, explains how we use automation responsibly and what is strictly prohibited. The site is owned and operated by Politikstudi Media Ltd, a private company registered in Gibraltar (company number C 92009, Malta Business Registry), with registered office at Office 9, Business Centre, Valletta, 0000.
Who is responsible for this policy and who owns Politikstudio?
Politikstudio’s AI and automation policy is the responsibility of Chefredaktör Oliver Keller, who sets editorial standards and approves all publication decisions. The site is owned and operated by Politikstudi Media Ltd, a private company registered in Gibraltar (company number C 92009, Malta Business Registry), with registered office at Office 9, Business Centre, Valletta, 0000 and main phone +356 2138 9009.
Oliver Keller (anders.lindqvist@politikstudio.de, +46 8 525 030 61) oversees all editorial content, including any that involves AI-assisted processes. The Swedish editorial line is +49 30 577 013 49. Every article at Politikstudio is drafted by a named writer, reviewed by an editor and fact-checked before publication. No automated system can override human judgement. Our ownership and funding page provides further details about our corporate structure and funding sources.
How may AI tools support our journalism?
AI-assisted tools at Politikstudio may be used to support research, drafting, editing, formatting, translation, metadata generation, headline options, summaries and transcription, but only under direct human supervision. No published editorial content is approved or posted without a human editor’s final review.
For example, a reporter may use transcription software to convert an interview recording into text, or an editor may use a headline suggestion tool to generate alternatives. AI may also help analyse large datasets or translate source material. In every case, the human journalist remains responsible for accuracy, context and tone. The tools never replace reporters, fact-checkers or editors. Our editorial policy sets out the standards that apply to all content, whether human-written or AI-assisted.
What are the strict prohibitions on AI use?
It is strictly forbidden for AI tools to fabricate quotes, sources, interviews, bylines, author experience or expert profiles at Politikstudio. AI must never be used to write entire articles without human review, and no automated system may make editorial decisions.
Specifically, the following are prohibited: generating fake quotes or attributions; creating fictitious interviewees or expert profiles; impersonating named journalists; producing content that bypasses fact-checking; and using AI to alter the meaning of a source without verification. Any AI-assisted draft must be clearly flagged to the Redaktionschef (Anna Ludwig) and reviewed by the fact-checking team led by Birgit Schmitt. Our fact-checking policy details the verification procedures applied to every article.
How do we ensure transparency about AI use?
Politikstudio commits to transparent disclosure of AI-assisted content, clear labelling of sponsored or commercial material, and a public, regularly updated policy on automation. Readers can verify who wrote and edited any article via our bylines and team page.
Sponsored or commercial content is clearly labelled, and affiliate links are disclosed. Commercial relationships never determine editorial conclusions. We maintain a record of the AI tools we use and assess their accuracy periodically. Any concerns about AI use can be sent to Chefredaktör Oliver Keller or to the fact-checking team at factcheck@politikstudio.de. For general inquiries, contact our contact page. See also Our Team for the full list of editors and reporters.
